The Centenary Edition of the 1000 Miglia crosses Motor Valley

Mille miglia.

The 2027 1000 Miglia will cross Motor Valley. To mark the centenary of the race’s first edition, the Freccia Rossa will make its way through Emilia-Romagna, bringing the competition to Parma, Reggio Emilia and Modena. The route will take the race through some of the territories most closely connected to the history of Italian motoring and its ongoing evolution.

Taking place from 24 to 29 May 2027, the Centenary Edition will follow a special format: six days of competition, a circular route and a return to the anticlockwise direction of the original 1927 race. The route will retrace the historic course of the competition, adapting it to today’s requirements while preserving its connection with its origins.

The stages across Motor Valley

Emilia-Romagna will play a leading role from the very first days of the event.

  • Monday, 24 May 2027: after setting off from Brescia, the crews will reach Parma in the evening, where the first stage will come to an end.

  • Tuesday, 25 May 2027: the convoy will pass through Reggio Emilia before reaching Modena, where the race will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, the cars will head towards Tuscany, tackling the Raticosa and Futa mountain passes, two roads deeply rooted in motorsport history, before arriving in Florence.

The route will take the Freccia Rossa through some of the region’s most representative motoring destinations, across an area where industry, competition and a passion for cars have coexisted for generations.

Museums and manufacturers open their doors

The 1000 Miglia’s passage through the region will also provide an opportunity to discover Emilia-Romagna’s motoring heritage. During the event, museums, private collections and automotive manufacturers across the region will organise special openings, exhibitions and activities for enthusiasts and families.

The race will therefore offer a chance to explore not only the history of motorsport, but also the network of companies, museums and cultural institutions that contribute to shaping Motor Valley’s identity.

A spring of motoring: from Motor Valley Fest to the 1000 Miglia

The Freccia Rossa’s passage through the region will be part of a spring season that puts Emilia-Romagna at the centre of the international motoring calendar.

From 6 to 9 May 2027, just a few weeks before the 1000 Miglia, Modena will host a new edition of Motor Valley Fest. The festival will bring the city centre to life with meetings and events involving brands, institutions, universities, startups and young talents, focusing on innovation, research and the changing landscape of mobility.

Two different events, united by the same motoring culture: on one side, the history and the cars that have shaped a century of competition; on the other, the ideas and technologies helping to define the future of the industry.

Andrea Pontremoli, President of Motor Valley & MUNER:

«The Centenary Edition of the 1000 Miglia crosses Motor Valley at a particularly significant time. The meeting of these two realities tells the story not only of a great automotive tradition, but also of a distinctive approach to development. Motor Valley demonstrates that competitiveness does not depend solely on the presence of individual centres of excellence, but on the ability to build an ecosystem in which different skills, knowledge and experiences generate mutual value. This combination of identity, collaboration and vision has made the region an international point of reference. The 1000 Miglia’s passage therefore represents an opportunity to showcase a heritage that continues to evolve, while maintaining strong ties with its roots and looking constantly towards the future.»

A shared vision echoed by the organisers of the Freccia Rossa, who also highlight the strategic and cultural value of bringing the race to territories that are emblematic of Italy’s motoring heritage:

Fulvio D’Alvia, CEO of 1000 Miglia Srl:

«The 1000 Miglia is not simply an extraordinary event, but a project whose strength lies in its connection with the territories of our country. The Centenary Edition’s passage through Motor Valley represents a natural meeting between two great icons of Italian and international motoring. Driving through the places where motoring culture was born will be a special experience for the crews taking part in the race: an opportunity to highlight a uniquely outstanding Italian supply chain and demonstrate how our history continues to evolve, transforming a passion for cars into a living heritage that brings together tradition, hospitality and a vision for the future.»

The Centenary Edition of the 1000 Miglia will bring Motor Valley into a race that looks back to the origins of the competition, retracing some of the roads that have shaped its history. Together with Motor Valley Fest, its passage will make spring 2027 a particularly important season for the region, bringing together the automotive heritage of the past and the expertise and experiences that continue to drive the industry forward.
