SC20, the new Lamborghini Squadra Corse one-off

Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the SC20, the first open-top Barchetta designed by the motorsport department in collaboration with the Lamborghini Centro Stile. The design and line, from racing Lamborghinis, play a main role in terms of performance and driving pleasure.

The carbon fiber bodywork was in fact designed in order to convey the air flows in an excellent way, while allowing a smooth ride even at high speeds. The color Bianco Fu was chosen for the bodywork, alternating with the Blu Cepheus livery. Carbon is the main protagonist of the interior, used for the construction of numerous passenger compartment components, including the seat shells covered in Alcantara and leather, and for some details on the steering wheel, which make it even more sporty.

The SC20 is equipped with the 6,498 cm3 naturally aspirated V12 that delivers 770 hp at 8,500 rpm and develops a torque of 720 Nm at 6,750 rpm, with the optimized seven-speed ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) gearbox. The new hypercar is the result of the technical and stylistic exercise that the Lamborghini team had to face during the construction process, which immediately involved the lucky customer in all respects.

De Tomaso, a Motor Valley story.

The history of the car manufacturer De Tomaso has origins far from the Italian territory: Alejandro De Tomaso was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1928. The son of an important politician from Campania, he spends his life between political commitment and a passion for racing until he was forced to emigrate to Italy after the war. Here, thanks to his skills as a driver, he found work in stables such as Maserati and Osca, until he was able to open his own workshop in Motorvalley, in Modena, and, later, to become a car manufacturer. Thus was born the Automobili De Tomaso.

All this is made possible thanks to the financial support of the second wife, sister of the President of Rowan Controller Industries, a company engaged in the automotive sector. Vallelunga is one of the first mass-produced cars with a mid-engine and beam frame. It was produced in two versions: the first was open in 1963, while the second, from 1964, made its debut at the Turin Motor Show with the coupé body, both with Ford engines. The sporty 5000 Spyder Fantuzzi or P70 and, after 50 years, the modern P72 are inspired by this.

The first Granturismo is the Mangusta produced since 1966 with a 4.7 liter engine (the famous Ford 289) and over 300 HP. It features a line defined by Giugiaro and the rear bonnet that can be opened in two parts, as well as refined independent suspension and disc brakes on the four wheels. In 1970/71 the production of the Pantera begins, which becomes the true icon of the brand. Equipped with a 5.8-liter 330hp V8 and a load-bearing body frame. It remained in production until 1993. In those same years the Deauville was produced: it was the first front-engined luxury sedan that aimed to undermine the primacy of the British and the Germans. From this derives the Longchamp coupe which is re-proposed under the Trident brand with the name of Kyalami, when in 1976 De Tomaso acquired Maserati, without however having too much success.

In the same year, a small car was produced, a variant of the Mini Innocenti, which enjoyed great success. De Tomaso sells a stake in Maserati to the Fiat Group. After four years he is forced to sell the entire property, due to serious health problems that force him to retire from the company. Later the car manufacturer signed an agreement with the Russian Uaz in the early 2000s, in order to create a “European” version of the Simbir 4X4, which never came to light. Alejandro De Tomaso died in 2003 leaving the company as an inheritance to his son Santiago, who does not agree with the company managers.

De Tomaso closes in 2004. Gian Mario Rossignolo, Italian entrepreneur announces the foundation of a new De Tomaso Automobili Spa, with production in Livorno and in the former Pininfarina plants in Grugliasco. In 2011, a concept car was presented: an elegant three-volume SUV designed by Pininfarina itself, which takes the name of Deauville. It will never be produced. Yet another bankruptcy led the company to reassignment, in 2015, following an auction, to Ideal Team Ventures, based in Hong Kong. The new owner decides to transfer the business to the United States. The Motor Valley company will continue its run, but on the New Continent.

Ducati has guaranteed a complete maintenance service for the motorcycles and has created special graphics in the color and style to match the other police vehicles of the Emilian capital.

The Alpha Tauri F1 team in Imola with two F1 cars for Gasly and Kvyat

The Enzo e Dino Ferrari reopens its doors to Formula 1. The Alpha Tauri team has chosen the Emilian track, which has just renewed its Grade 1 license, to carry out the filming day with the AT01 which will be driven by the two official drivers, Daniil Kvyat and Pierre Gasly.

The FIA regulations limit the distance allowed for promotional shots to just 100 km, so the team from Faenza has also combined the use of this year’s car with a Toro Rosso STR13 that can run without any limit. The car under test will introduce in the debut of next week at the Red Bull Ring a package of aerodynamic innovations that Gasly and Kvyat have had the opportunity to test in Imola.

For the team, this is also an opportunity to put into practice for the first time in the pits the anti-COVID-19 safety protocol that will be applied in Austria, with the obligation to wear masks and gloves and respect social distancing.

Great emotion for the President of Formula Imola Uberto Selvatico Estense. “Feeling the sound of a Formula One power unit on our track was a thrilling emotion and I want to wish the AlphaTauri team a huge good luck for the season that is about to start.”

Ferrari Portofino M, the Maranello spider is now “Modificata”

Ferrari Portofino M: today the new Ferrari evolution of the Portofino, the spider GT 2+ from Maranello, was presented. M as “Modificata”, which in the Ferrari nomenclature means “updated” or “evolved”. Existing brand customers were able to access a web platform containing exclusive videos, concepts and technical content of the new car.

There are several technical innovations introduced by the update: the renewed powertrain, the new eight-speed gearbox and the five-position Manettino with “Race” mode, already seen on the F8 Tributo and SF90. Thanks to these improvements, the new Cavallino is able to guarantee the performance, agility and driving pleasure of a true GT.

Furthermore, it is important to underline that the Portofino M is the first car presented following the company closure period, due to the spread of Covid-19: it is therefore a symbol of rebirth for the company.

The compact dimensions make it suitable for any type of situation and context: great comfort and versatility make every trip on board exciting.

A Lamborghini Sian made by Lego.

In advance with a first teaser in January here comes the Lamborghini Sian from Lego. A new Lego Technic set consisting of 3,696 colored bricks, for a faithful 1: 8 scale replica of the hypercar of Sant’Agata Bolognese. The most powerful Lambo in history is thus joined to an ever richer group of Lego sets composed from other super sports. 60 cm long, 13 cm high and 25 cm wide, the Lego Lamborghini Sian is available online from June 1st and – like the sisters recreated in colored bricks – takes up all the main characteristics of the real Sian.

From the working V12 engine (no, you can’t put petrol in it) with the pistons to run up and down, to the doors with scissor opening, passing through the self-propelled rear wing passing through the cockpit recreated to perfection, complete with gearbox controls. 8 reports, also functional.

A particular gem is represented by the front hood, naturally openable, in which a small bag (made in Lego) is hidden which holds a code to be inserted in a dedicated section of the Lego website (reachable by scanning the QR code in the instructions). This will allow you to unlock special content, such as videos in which the experts Lamborghini and Lego illustrate how the model was born.

Maserati MC20, the beginning of a new era for the Modena Trident.

The Maserati MC20 is finally here. The new Trident sports car that marks the beginning of a new Era for the Brand, an era that looks at the glorious past of the company but which focuses its eyes, especially, on the new technologies of the future, including the electrification.

Looking back, the MC20 name of the new sports car, perfectly embodies the essence of the brand, echoing that of the latest legendary supercar of the Brand, the MC12. If in fact the name MC12 meant Maserati Corse 12 Cilindri, sanctioning the return to racing for the Trident after 37 years at that time, today the name MC20 stands for Maserati Corse 2020 and celebrates, once again, the return of the Brand to competitions.

The heart of the sports car is the Nettuno engine, the new and innovative V6 Biturbo with 630 HP and 730 Nm of torque with MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology, proposed for the moment only in the variant without electrification and combined with an 8-speed double clutch gearbox. Maserati claims a top speed of 325 km/h and an incredible best-in-class weight/power ratio of 2.33 kg/hp. The refined aerodynamics have been studied in collaboration with Dallara, in the wind tunnel of Varano de’ Melegari.

The new sports car of the Trident, however, also introduces many technological innovations, including an innovative Infotainment system with central screen and 10.25-inch on-board computer screen, internet connection for the management of Maserati Connect services, integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assist and music streaming with Tidal service. There is also a high quality 12 speakers audio system developed by Sonus Faber in Italy.
