The main objective of the MotoGP Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is the international visibility of the territory, which is the goal of the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ice-Agenzia per la promozione all’estero e l’internazionalizzazione delle imprese italiane and the Emilia-Romagna Region.

The 2021 Cavallino Concorso di Modena

The Cavallino Classic is the most important Concorso d’Eleganza focusing exclusively on Ferraris and, for the first time in over thirty years, is doubling up and becoming international. This is because an extraordinary edition called the “Concorso di Modena” will be held at Casa Maria Luigia, Modena, from the 2nd to the 4th of July with the specific intention of paying tribute to Enzo Ferrari’s home town.

The “Cavallino Classic is an extraordinary event,” said Luigi Orlandini, President and CEO of Canossa Events, which acquired Cavallino Inc. in 2020, “and has made history, laying the foundations for the growth of Ferrari collecting by setting an example, followed by many, for the judging of the cars. Along with John Barnes, the founder of Cavallino Classic, we have been nursing the idea of bringing the Concorso d’Eleganza to Modena for some time now, as it is the centre of the motoring world in Italy. What’s more we also opted for a venue here that is an icon in terms of our culinary heritage: Casa Maria Luigia run by Massimo and Lara Bottura”

After finding the ideal venue, they needed to set the date. “It seemed the right thing to go ahead now, lighting a beacon of optimism for a pandemic-free future at a time when many people are still wondering whether we will ever get back to living our normal lives and relationships, and being able to spend time with friends and family,” continued Mr Orlandini. “We are confident we made the right choice because of the amount of enthusiasm that greeted the Concorso di Modena among the top Ferrari collectors around the world, all of whom were delighted to have a valid excuse to return to Italy after being obliged to stay away for so many months.

The Concorso participants are coming from four different continents, naturally in full compliance with Covid regulations, whilst the standard of the cars attending speaks for itself, with 26 extraordinary cars entered in the Concorso, almost all of which have been restored at Modena, or within the Motor Valley area, and some will be going on public display for the first time in decades. 26 cars altogether worth in excess of 250 million US dollars.

The energy and colors of Made in Italy in the official poster of the Motor Valley Fest.

With just over a month to go until the ribbon is cut opening the 2021 edition of the Motor Valley Fest. Scheduled from July 1 to 4, Modena, the city where the myth and legend of speed was born, will once again host the Motor Valley Fest as the ‘capital’ of Emilia-Romagna’s Motor Valley and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the new additions this year include the participation of the Misano Adriatico Circuits with the GT World Challenge Europe (July 2-4), the Imola Circuit with the CIV, Motorcycle Speed Championship (July 2-4) and Varano de Melegari with the Youngtimers and the Dallara Experience (July 2-3). Today, the Motor Valley Fest presents its official poster, created by Aldo Drudi, one of the most important designers of the Italian motoring scene. The poster pays homage to the creativity, energy and passion of Emilia Romagna, including the Motor Valley, with graphic lines that perfectly interpret this alchemy, while at the same time enhancing the concept of Made in Italy, an initiative showcasing Italian excellence, in the automotive sector.

The official poster for the Motor Valley Fest and the promotion of “Made in Italy”

With this in mind, the Motor Valley Fest becomes the third initiative in which Made in Italy will be developed and promoted, signed by the Emilia-Romagna Region and Apt Servizi Emilia-Romagna, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Italian Trade Agency to promote and develop Italian companies abroad. This significant collaboration aims to position Italy and Italian made products, in particular from the automotive supply chain, on the global stage, as goods of excellence in the world, made by the uniquely Italian combination of technology, tradition, creativity and beauty. This public event is designed with enthusiasts in mind to showcase the Motor Valley and the excellence of the regional territory. “We designed the poster in continuity with the official image created for the Formula One GP of Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna, however three new elements were integrated into the plot of the poster: a race car, a motorbike and the rose window of the Modena cathedral, which also influenced the choice of the chromatic rose that enhances the institutional colors: yellow and blue,” commented Aldo Drudi. “Given the success of the first creative image, it was fun and gratifying to continue in this direction putting energy to this new and highly anticipated Motor Valley event.”  The Motor Valley Fest is organized for the international promotion of the Italian automotive sector and its brands. The format of the event includes a rich calendar of dynamic and adrenaline-pumping events, exhibitions and in-depth meetings. It is the symbol of a strong accumulation of resources, planning, contributions and collaborations between the public and private sectors, which characterize the fabric of the territory.

The Curtain Falls on the 30th Cavallino Classic: Ferraris and Friends Come Together with Great Success.

The winners of the two most important awards at the 30th Cavallino Classic, the top Concorso for classic Ferraris worldwide, were assigned during the weekend. “The Scuderia Ferrari Cup”, awarded to the most important competition Ferrari, went to a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT TdF, while “The Gran Turismo Ferrari Cup”, for the best Ferrari GT, was won by a1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Cabriolet Pinin Farina. The two awards were presented by John Barnes, founder of the Cavallino Classic, and Luigi Orlandini, Chairman and CEO of Canossa Events, which in 2020 took over the management and organization of the Cavallino Classic. Orlandini’s participation in the ceremony formally marked the handover. The event attracted a good-sized crowd, with both the public tickets and the entry spaces for owners all sold out. It has been confirmed that in 2022, Cavallino will return to its traditional slot in the third week of January (specifically, January 20–23, 2022).

Cavallino Classic, the Motor Valley on display in Palm Beach

At “Cavallino 30”, the conditions — warm and slightly breezy — couldn’t have been better, for participants and public alike. The Concorso d’Eleganza took place on Saturday, April 24, in the gardens of The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida. Normally held in January, the event had to be postponed this year because of the pandemic. As always, the Concorso was the culmination of the “active” part of the Cavallino Classic — two days of fun for owners at the wheels of their cars, first on the track and second on a tour of Palm Beach — and the cultural part, which takes the form of numerous forums (all open to the public) that examine, in depth, the history of Ferrari, its models and the fascinating history of single cars. This year, for example, the spotlight was on a 250 GT Berlinetta SWB that has been with the same owner for over 30 years. The event attracted a sizeable crowd, with enthusiasts eager to see cars “in the flesh” again, as opposed to online. The most important US-based Ferrari collectors were in attendance, but the European, South American and Asian ones (and their cars) were absent, for obvious reasons.

The promotion of Made in Italy in the US

There were over 100 cars on display, and as usual the standard was very high. The following important models were each represented by two cars: Ferrari 250 GTO, 250 SWB (one was a “competizione” version), 275 GTB/4 and 250 GTL, as well as the more modern 288 GTO, F40 and SF 90 Stradale. Other highlights attracting the attention of enthusiasts were a 2015 FXX-K (chassis #289090), one of the only 40 produced, the 2001 Formula 1 F2001b (chassis #215) formerly driven by Michael Schumacher, a 1957 250 Testa Rossa (chassis #0704 TR), and the 1952 Arno XI racing motorboat (keel #001), built by Cantieri Timossi and equipped with the 4.5-liter 12-cylinder engine usually used on F1 375s.

Furthermore, a remarkable 12 Ferraris — we are talking about the 365, 512 and 512i models, plus the various evolutions of the Testarossa — all equipped with the 12-cylinder Boxer engine, came together to mark the 50th anniversary of the unveiling, at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, of the 364 GT/4 BB, the first road Ferrari to adopt this type of engine. The winners of the two main prizes, for the best road and the best racing Ferrari, were selected by a panel led by Chief Judge Chris Current and overseen by Emeritus Chief Judge Ed Gilbertson, founder of both the IAC/PFA (International Advisory Council for the Preservation of the Ferrari Automobile) and the ICJAG (International Chief Judge Advisory Group):

Cavallino Classic, and the winner goes to…

The best competition Ferrari, and therefore winner of “The Scuderia Ferrari Cup”, was the 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France. #0619 GT was delivered on March 28, 1957, to its first owner, France-based gentleman driver Pierre Noblet, who used it for racing. After making its competition debut at the “Coupe Fernandez” in May 1957, the car went on to win the Rally Jeanne d’Arc on June 16, before taking 8th place overall in the Tour de France (September 15-21, 1957). By the start of 1958, #0619 GT was in Venezuela, where it was entered in several races before ending up, in 1959, in the United States, where (apart from about ten years in an Italian collection) it has remained ever since.

The Gran Turismo Ferrari Cup, for the best Ferrari GT, went to the 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Cabriolet Pinin Farina. This car (chassis #0235 EU) was the second and last 212 Inter dressed by Pinin Farina with Cabriolet bodywork, and the only one built in LHD configuration. It was shown on the Ferrari stand at the October 1952 Paris Motor Show, and at the Brussels Motor Show in the January of the following year. It is a specimen with a fascinating story as well as a very respectable racing history. Its most important results include 9th place overall and third in class at the inaugural 1000 Kilometers of Nürburgring in August 1953. It was exported to the United States in 1954. Restored and certified by Ferrari Classiche in 2012, chassis #0235 EU is still equipped with its original, 0235 EU marked engine.

Ferrari Passion at Its Finest at Cavallino Classic, in Palm Beach.

Two major brands in the classic motorsport world are uniting this week in honor of classic Ferrari vehicles. Beginning today, Made in Italy and the Motor Valley in Emilia-Romagna Region, partner with the Cavallino Classic as it returns for its 30th Anniversary at the Breakers in Palm Beach, April 22-25, 2021 in the run up to the 3rd edition of the Motor Valley Fest taking place July 1-4, 2021. This Motor Valley partnership is possible thanks to an agreement between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Trade Agency – the government agency for the promotion and the globalization of the Italian companies abroad – and the Emilia-Romagna Region for the promotion and enhancement of the excellence of the Made in Italy initiative, starting from the automotive supply chain.

This is Motor Valley, the land where speed was born

Only few days ago in the heart of the Motor Valley, the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola, one of the most legendary tracks in the world of motorsport, hosted the “Pirelli Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna,” the first European stop of prestigious Formula 1 world championship along the historic Via Emilia. For the Motor Valley, the land of motors, it is further confirmation and a new opportunity for international visibility and networking along with all the other Italian districts specialized in automotive production. In this last year marked by the pandemic, this valuable Made in Italy agreement is a strong signal for a restart and launch of a wide range of valuable initiatives related to the other main motorsport events of the season: from MotoGP and the Superbike World Championship in Misano Adriatico. Some other important initiatives addressed to the business community, will be organized during this year, such as: Mission Restart by Autopromotec, Motorsport Next (both digital), Motor Valley Fest in Modena, Expo Dubai, MotorBella in Pontiac and Innoprom in Ekaterinburg.

The Cavallino Classic 2021

The Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach is yet another great chance to showcase Made in Italy at its best. After 42 years publishing the most important source of information about Ferrari models and 30 years as the sole competition of elegance entirely dedicated to the prancing horse, Cavallino becomes the newest member of the Canossa family. Canossa Events has dedicated over four decades to the celebration and preservation of Enzo Ferrari’s magical legacy. For the most valuable cars, the most discerning collectors and the most passionate fans of the prancing horse, Cavallino is the place to be.

Terre di Canossa 2020: the 10th rally is ready to go.

Even in such unusual and unsettling times as 2020, the team at Canossa Events and Scuderia Tricolore is ready to fire the engines of our passion at the 10th edition of the Terre di Canossa (1-4 October)

Covid-19 has created many organisational headaches and many regular competitors reluctantly had to miss out because of the new restrictions. Despite all this, Canossa Events has chosen to carry on and welcome its friends and fans with its usual style and a clear message: it’s time to get back on track, to get up and running again, to get back to our lives and our passions, like the passion for our vintage cars that have been waiting patiently in garages for months on end, in the hope of seeing sunlight again before winter.

Terre di Canossa is ready to go, obviously with the utmost attention to the safety of the crews, who we look forward to welcoming with our usual smile, even if it will be hidden by a face mask, as required by the health and safety protocol.

The 10th edition

The 2020 edition is celebrating an important milestone and so Canossa decided to mark the event with a medieval theme focusing on Matilda of Canossa, who was Queen of Italy in the 12th century. Everything was dedicated to her from the start, with the event highlights taking place in some fascinating historic locations.

The competitors will experience a taste of Medieval splendour and the atmosphere of the Middle Ages at the gala evening in the splendid setting of Tabiano Castle, built at the turn of the 11th century, at lunch on Friday at Filattiera Castle, built between the 12th and 13th centuries by the Malaspina family, and at the finishing line overlooked by the 12th century Rocca del Boiardo fortress.

This year, the rally follows an itinerary of about 650 km and includes around fifty timed trials, four average speed trials with secret passage checks and two special trophies: the Trofeo Forte dei Marmi and the Trofeo Tricolore for non “professional” drivers, who are always welcome. But the Terre di Canossa is not just a rally. It is primarily a winning combination of fantastic cars and gentlemen drivers who come here from far afield to enjoy this unique opportunity to get a special taste of Italy, combining the adrenalin of the competition with the delights of the best Italian food and wine, and the chance to explore the areas en route.

We can confirm some of the most popular ingredients in previous years have been included in this tenth edition: the departure from the beautiful Art Nouveau town of Salsomaggiore Terme, the road crossing the Cinque Terre with its scenic views of the sea, and the drive through Lucca city centre and across its ancient city walls, welcomed by flag bearers in medieval dress.

The two, highly-coveted trophies for non “professional” drivers are also back, along with the “Pre-War Cup” for pre-war cars, and the all-essential sundowner beach party at Forte dei Marmi, the pearl of Versilia. Another welcome comeback is the Naval Base at La Spezia thanks to the hospitality of the Italian Navy which always extends a warm welcome to the participants of the Terre di Canossa.

The organisers have also included lots of new elements to keep things interesting for regular competitors. These include the inaugural evening and lunch on Friday at two lovely medieval castles, the challenge of crossing Cisa Pass and driving through San Rossore Presidential Estate.

The race will end at Scandiano in the province of Reggio Emilia. Here, for the first time, drivers will compete to win the Trofeo Tricolore on roads climbing up through the hills, taking the crews to their last lunch location with a panoramic terrace overlooking the vast flat lands of Emilia below

A Green event

The organisers have reconfirmed their eco-friendly outlook by deciding once again to implement a CarbonZero protocol this year, requiring measures to be employed that can help reduce the impact on the environment, calculating the residual emissions of climatealtering gases. These emissions are then entirely compensated by planting trees in the Tuscan Emilian Apennine Mountains.
