Auto e Moto d’Epoca: October 26-29, the international appointment of Italian Classic moves to Bologna

Boom of European exhibitors, major historic manufacturers and clubs, the most important Heritage collections and the latest models yet to be seen on the road or track. The 40th edition of Auto e Moto d’Epoca will mark a new chapter in the history of the Classic Show, as it will be the first to be held at the Bologna Fairgrounds, in the heart of Motor Valley.

Every year, Auto e Moto d’Epoca, attracts visitors from more than 45 countries around the world, becoming a recognized event on the international calendar and the most important marketplace for historic vehicles in Europe.

Exhibition space doubled

The 2023 edition represents a turning point that will allow the Italian Classic to realize its full potential. In the new setting of BolognaFiere, in fact, the show doubles the available exhibition space, with a total of 235 thousand square meters distributed in 11 pavilions and 4 access gates, as well as more than 14,500 covered parking spaces for visitors and exhibitors. An important new feature this year is the introduction of an entire pavilion, 21, dedicated exclusively to vintage motorcycles, a true “Salon within the Salon.”

The first motorcycle show

The new pavilion dedicated to historic motorcycles is, in fact, one of the big new features of this edition, with 15,000 square meters of exhibition space. The goal of the Motorcycle Show will be to show motorcycle enthusiasts a cultural heritage they have never before seen brought together. Among the exhibits will be a Honda-signed racing world motorcycle displayed in a world premiere with the participation of the multi-award winning Lucio Cecchinello Racing Team and the historic 750 Honda K0; a special focus on BMW Motorrad history for the brand’s 100th anniversary; and several examples from the important Battilani Collection of Imola, one of the most renowned in Italy for the quality and quantity of its motorcycles (300) and, in particular, for Italian examples from its origins to the 1940s.

Collector pieces

Celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the Mauto Collection, National Automobile Museum, and the presence of other important European museum institutions are expected. Also nourished by the presence of historic clubs and registers, each present with the cars and two-wheelers that have turned motoring history into a heritage to be cherished. The Registro Internazionale Touring Superleggera, for example, will display one of the world’s first road-going Ferraris: the Berlinetta 195 LM Coupé Superleggera, a car identical to the one in which Count Giannino Marzotto won the 1950 1000 Miglia.

The Registry’s booth will also feature the 1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Cabriolet Turinga, one of the rare cars of the coachbuilder produced with the Italianized name in deference to the autarkic imposition of the Ventennio period. There are also many new entries linked to the history and passion of the Motor Valley, such as the Scuderia San Martino and the Automobile Museum of San Martino in Rio, which will present a double stand together, with two cars more than 100 years old and a surprise related to the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans (which turns 100 this year).

The big automotive companies

The space dedicated to the automakers is an opportunity to admire new models and discover their origins: construction philosophies, sporting history and technological progress mingle, uniting past and future and conveying the values and culture of the manufacturer over time. Dedicated to the red thread that unites in continuity the historic cars with the new models released on the market is the participation of important Brands such as: Alpine, BMW Motorrad, Bentley, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, FCA Heritage Gruppo Stellantis, Mclaren, Mercedes Benz Italia, Toyota Motor Italia and Volvo Cars Italia.

Market and spare parts market

Auto e Moto d’Epoca is the largest vintage vehicle and parts market in Europe, capable of satisfying almost all the desires of collectors and restorers and able to let everyone find the historic car, motorcycle or spare part they are looking for. The range of cars, motorcycles, spare parts, automobilia and memorabilia covers the entire horizon of historic motoring and motorcycling. The auto market ranges from the unique models of 1930s artisan coachbuilders to the most promising Youngtimers. The parts section offers a complete overview of original and ‘new vintage’ parts: from mechanics to electrical components, from documents to car radios of the past.

The Mall

A central area, a junction between the different pavilions, dedicated to the most important companies specializing in the care, restoration and technologies serving classic cars and motorcycles. Among the offerings: gears, mufflers, 3D printed parts to original designs, and many products for care and restoration.

Design, vintage, tailoring and motor art

Vintage designer clothes, accessories, watches, interior design, motor art and handcrafted creations make the visit even more inspiring. Auto e Moto d’Epoca is also unique in the quality and variety of its exhibitors. Among the pavilions you will find professional designers and motor art artists, petroliana-style creations, paintings dedicated to the history of motoring, vintage and handcrafted sartorial garments of the highest quality and unique design pieces inspired by the world of travel.
