VisLab was founded in the late 1990s as a research laboratory of the University of Parma. Today, it is a high-tech company specialising in ADAS and autonomous driving. Their know-how covers everything from the fundamentals of environmental perception to product realisation and implementation, spanning a broad spectrum of specific and interdisciplinary knowledge.
Ambarella VisLab is located at Parco Area delle Scienze 49, Parma.
In just a few years, VisLab has rapidly established itself as a pioneer in vehicle autonomy. Under the leadership of its founder Alberto Broggi, the company, which began as a spinoff of the University of Parma, has achieved internationally recognised milestones.
In 2015, VisLab was acquired by Ambarella, a Silicon Valley-based listed semiconductor company specialising in the development of advanced hardware processors for machine vision.
Ambarella relies on VisLab for development regarding artificial intelligence, research and growth in various markets, with a focus on the automotive market.
VisLab’s core business is focused on providing high-level research in the most current high-tech fields, such as autonomous driving, robotics and deep learning.
The strong link with the academic world has always remained active. VisLab offers teaching activities at local and regional universities, and provides internships to selected PhD students and graduates to participate in its cutting-edge research.
