"SENNA 30 YEARS": IMOLA OFFERS A FULL CALENDAR OF EVENTS TO REMEMBER AYRTON AND ROLAND RATZENBERGER

Thirty years after the death of Ayrton Senna (May 1, 1994) and Roland Ratzenberger (April 30, 1994), during the F1 Grand Prix at the "Enzo and Dino Ferrari" Autodrome in Imola, the Municipality of Imola in collaboration with the Instituto Ayrton Senna, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Emilia-Romagna Region has organized a rich calendar of events entitled "Senna 30 years," to commemorate the tragic death of the two drivers.

The events, including exhibitions, sporting events, shows and more will run from March 21 to June 2, with a special focus on May 1. Among these dates, on the calendar at the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari are two international races: the 6 Hours of Imola, the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) on April 19-21 and the F1 Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna, May 17-19.

The "Senna 30 years" program was presented this morning at the headquarters of the Emilia-Romagna Region. Speakers were Marco Panieri, Mayor of Imola; Advisors to the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Avv. Marco Rago and Giuseppe Incocciati (from remote); Minister of Foreign Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Amb. Mauro Vieira, who sent a message that was read by Mayor Panieri during the press conference; Teodoro Lonfernini, Secretary of State for Sport, Republic of San Marino; Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region; Stefano Domenicali, CEO Formula 1® (from remote); Gian Carlo Minardi, President Formula Imola; Eduardo Kobra, artist (from remote); Bianca Senna, Instituto Ayrton Senna (from remote). Coordinating the speeches was Giammaria Manghi, head of the political secretariat of the Presidency of the Region.

Initiatives to kick off Thursday, March 21, Ayrton Senna's birth day - The calendar of initiatives kicks off on Thursday, March 21, which is the Brazilian driver's birth day, with the opening of the exhibition "MAGIC. Ayrton Senna - Imola 1994-2024. Photographs by Angelo Orsi and Mirco Lazzari." Set up at the San Domenico Museum (Via Sacchi 4), the exhibition consists of 94 unpublished shots to tell the story of Ayrton Senna, the man behind the driver.

Precisely 94 shots, making up the number 94, the year of the tragic death following the terrible accident on the Santerno circuit, which tell through the eyes of photographers Angelo Orsi and Mirco Lazzari the unforgettable deeds of Senna but also, with great sensitivity and attention, the human and intimate side of the man Ayrton.

Angelo Orsi of Ayrton was a friend, not just the photographer. He knew him intimately and hung out with him off the track as well. To photograph a person well, you have to know him, and the more you understand him, the more you can capture his nuances. The exhibition wants to tell, through Angelo's photos, not only the exploits of this myth, but above all He, the person, the man. Images that enter the heart of the observer because they are real and not posed. Details caught on the fly because they were taken by those who knew Ayrton thoroughly, intuited and knew how to capture his nuances. Photographs that even today, after 30 years, looking at them still freezes your breath and makes you relive the moment.

The exhibition will remain open until next June 2.

It continues on March 23, when, on the occasion of the Fai Spring Days, it will be possible to take the "Ayrton Senna from Kobra to Pierotti" route, with guided appointments from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A path of memory, between art, speed and nature entitled "30 years since the death of Ayrton Senna. From Kobra to Pierotti": it starts from the large mural created by Brazilian artist Kobra, dedicated to Ayrton Senna, on the facade of the "Checco Costa" museum, and concludes with the monument dedicated to Senna, in bronze, created by sculptor Stefano Pierotti, in front of the spot where the driver's impact occurred on May 1, 1994. It will also be an opportunity to remember Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger. During the FAI Spring Days, all FAI members will be granted reduced admission to the photographic exhibition dedicated to Ayrton Senna at the San Domenico Museum.

From April 16 to June 1, in addition, the municipal library (Via Emilia 80) will offer the exhibition "There is no corner where you can't overtake.

The Imola racetrack from its origins to the return of the WEC.Exhibition route EXHIBITION WEC - 1994 - F1."Photographs, documents and period newspapers recount significant moments that have marked the history of the Imola racetrack: from its opening in 1953 to its close relationship with Enzo Ferrari, to the major automotive events - the WEC and the Formula 1 Grand Prix - that have been held on the banks of the Santerno. The exhibition is also an opportunity to pay tribute to Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger on the 30th anniversary of their deaths.

Another photographic exhibition is that proposed by Imola photographer Marco Isola, who in the courtyard of Palazzo Vacchi (via Appia 37) presents "ImolAyrton."

It consists of 11 photos reproduced in 70x100 format taken exclusively in Imola from 1992 until May 1, 1994. On display are, in particular, close-ups and faces, along with photos of the start of the May 1, 1994 Grand Prix and the Brazilian driver's last pass at the Tosa corner, before the accident at the Tamburello corner. The exhibition is open from April 18 to 21; May 1 to 3; and May 16 to 19.The photos on display will be for sale, and part of the proceeds will go to charity, in favor of the Matteo Bagnaresi Foundation, which cares for disadvantaged children, in the spirit of solidarity with the world of childhood that marked Senna's entire life.

The Checco Costa Museum at the Autodrome, on the other hand, will host an exhibition of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger memorabilia from April 27 to May 1 inclusive. These include a portrait of Ayrton Senna created by Ravenna Academy of Fine Arts student Rita Amadori, as part of SCART, the Hera Group's art and communication project that has been transforming industrial processing waste into works of art for 25 years, offering a second chance to materials that still have much to say. Charting an innovative path capable of combining ethics and beauty. Rita Amadori made the portrait during a work shop organized at the Scart workshops in Pisa, using: fabric scraps, leather scraps, fabric quilt scraps, leather welt from a shoe company. The work was donated today by Herambiente SpA to the organizers of "Senna 30 years" at the end of the press conference.

Entitled "From 'a Ayrton Senna' to 'Iron pictures' - Stefano Pierotti: memory and horizon," the Pietrasanta-based sculptor's artistic intervention is entitled "From 'a Ayrton Senna' to 'Iron pictures' - Stefano Pierotti: memory and horizon. Author of the monument dedicated to Ayrton, placed in the Acque Minerali park, Pierotti will create a large mural (3.30 meters x 4.20 meters) painted on corten-colored steel plates, depicting Ayrton's face, made with the "Iron pictures" technique, especially for this anniversary. The mural will be placed in the city, in an outdoor space, to be always usable and will remain the property of the City of Imola. This is flanked by an exhibition of works by Stefano Pierotti, set up at the Salannunziata (via F.lli Bandiera 17/a) from April 19 to May 19, curated by Vinicio Dall'Ara, which on the one hand, through photos and documents, traces the phases of the realization of the monument dedicated to Senna, placed at the Acque Minerali, and on the other hand correlates this work with a series of other works created from the 1990s to the present, including large-scale works in bronze and iron, which outline the history of his activity. These are female figures, other more abstract sculptures and two faces from the "Iron pictures" series. Also on display is another panel (1.5 meters x 1.5 meters) depicting Senna's face, again specially made by Pierotti for the exhibition, using the "Iron pictures" technique.

May 1 to stage "Ayrton and Roland Day" - Highlight of the program is May 1, with "Ayrton and Roland Day." It begins in the morning, at 9:30 a.m., on the track at the Autodrome, with the Run/Walk dedicated to Ayrton Senna. Registration will be opened shortly on the website dedicated to the 30th anniversary. At the end, starting at 12 noon, the Autodrome will be open to the public. At 2:17 p.m., the time of Ayrton's accident, the "SENNA30 years" commemoration ceremony will take place at the Tamburello curve. An institutional moment of remembrance with local, national and international authorities is planned. Next, we will move to the Villeneuve curve to celebrate the "ROLAND30 years," in memory of Roland Ratzenberger.

While from 4 to 6 p.m., a moment of remembrance of Senna will be held in the Autodrome Press Room along with the presentation of the book dedicated to him by Franco Nugnes.

Also starting at 4 p.m., until 6:30 p.m. this time at the municipal stadium "Romeo Galli," located inside the Mineral Water Park, the 'Roland & Ayrton Tribute' soccer tournament will take place between the soccer schools of Italy and Brazil, with very youngsters from Sao Paulo, Brazil and under Italian teams. Sport thus becomes an example among the younger generations of bridging peoples and commonality with the goal of bringing them closer to a just and cohesive humanity.

At 9 p.m., also at the track, in the starting straight, a special event entitled "Me & Ayrton" will take place, with a theatrical monologue accompanied by music and images

While in the "Al Parco" Disco, located inside the Mineral Water Park, from 8 p.m. space will be given to the "Brazilian Evening" with music, tastes, and dancing under the banner of Brazilian culture.

Throughout the day, from noon to 6 p.m. in the fan zone, located behind the finish grandstand, a Ferris wheel will be in operation.

Finally, the initiative "May 1, 1994 begins the Myth" should be remembered. Thirty years have passed since that cursed day when Ayrton had the accident on the Imola track. Inside the Tamburello curve and at the monument dedicated to him placed in the Mineral Water Park every year, there continue to be thousands of people who go to pay their respects, a flag, a photo or even just a thought. Imola has decided to collect pictures and memories of those who were in Imola that May 1, 1994. It is possible to send photos and texts to the email senna30@comune.imola.bo.it

On the occasion of May 1, 2024, a dedicated area will be set up for fan signatures and contributions.

In the city there will be a dedicated city dressing that will accompany fans arriving by car, starting from the cube at the exit of the A14, but also by train, from the station to the in centro storico and the Autodromo.
