Walter Fontana is the Chairman and CEO of Fontana Group.
After graduating in mechanics at the Technical High School Badoni in Lecco, he joined the family
business in 1973.
Since then, he has been involved in growth, development and internationalization strategies of
the Company, turning it from an artisan company of 22 employees into a multinational one with
over 1500 employees and 15 plants, 13 of which in Italy, 1 in Turkey and 1 in Romania.
His leadership let the Company be awarded prestigious prizes by important customers (Podio
Ferrari, VW Value to the Customer Award, Audi Quality Award, etc.) and remarkable
International Institutions (Detroit Outstanding Achievement Award, SDA Bocconi Best Factory
Award, Europe’s Most Dynamic Entrepreneurs, Confindustria Award for Excellence, Premio dei
Premi per l’Innovazione, etc.).
He is often invited by leading Institutes and Research Centers as a speaker on the topics about
innovation and international development of family-run business.
