Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1996, Simone di Piazza began his professional career the same year at Ducati, where he has held positions of increasing responsibility.

He started as a structural analyst, contributing to both production models and racing activities.

In 2000, he became Head of the Simulation Department, focusing on structural modeling and analysis for chassis and engine.

In 2006, he was appointed Head of R&D Services, overseeing several departments including simulation, material technologies, process technologies, dimensional inspection, and technical documentation.

In 2010, he completed an Executive Master in Innovation and Technology Management at Bologna Business School, strengthening his managerial expertise.

From 2007 to 2019, he led both Chassis Design and R&D Services.

Since 2019, he has been Head of Innovation and R&D Services, managing pre-development projects for chassis, engine, electronics, and e-mobility, fostering collaborations with universities and research centers, coordinating nationally and EU-funded projects, and overseeing intellectual property management for both production and racing R&D activities.
