Full Professor of Drawing and Methods of Industrial Engineering, he earned both his Ph.D. and Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE). He teaches in the Bachelor’s degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, and Computer Engineering, as well as in the Master’s degree programs in Vehicle Engineering, Advanced Automotive Engineering, and Electric Vehicle Engineering. He is Director of the “Enzo Ferrari” Department of Engineering.
He has served as President of the School of Engineering, Science and Technology and previously as President of the Inter-University Degree Program in Advanced Automotive Engineering. He is a delegated member of the Steering Committee of the MUNER Association (Motorvehicle University of Emilia-Romagna) and coordinator of the strategic initiative “Automotive Academy UNIMORE.”
He is the scientific coordinator for UNIMORE at the National Centre for Sustainable Mobility (MOST), a member of the Scientific Council of the National Technological Cluster for Transport “Italy 2020,” and a member of Technical Committee 2.4 of PIARC Italy (World Road Association) for the 2020–2023 term. He also served as an expert in the Commission of the Ministry of Education, University and Research for the development of the guidelines for the 2020/2027 National Research Plan (PNR), focusing on Sustainable Mobility.
He is the scientific director of the IDEA (Integrated Design and Engineering Application) research laboratory at DIEF and scientific coordinator of research units in competitive European, national, and regional projects. His work focuses on Mechanical Computer Aided Design for Automotive, Model-Based Design (GPS, GD&T), Automation, and Industrial Robotics. He is the author of international scientific publications in journals and conferences, for which he has received awards and recognitions.
He actively collaborates with companies through research contracts and applied research projects. He is a founding partner of the university spin-off IDEATIVA srl, which designs, produces, and markets solutions in the biomedical, industrial robotics, and automotive sectors.
