Andrea Torcelli is the Chief Technology Officer of the Bonfiglioli Group, a global leader in power
transmission and industrial automation solutions. He leads a worldwide R&D organization of over
350 engineers, distributed across seven technical centers in Europe and Asia, and is responsible for
driving the Group’s innovation strategy and the product development roadmap.
With a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Padua and an international
academic background that includes studies at the University of California, Andrea began his career
at Aprilia S.p.A., focusing on mechanical design and advanced virtual simulation systems. He later
earned an MBA in the United States and held senior technical and managerial roles at Carraro
Group, where he oversaw the development of axles, transmissions, and electric drive systems for
major global OEMs in the off-highway and industrial sectors.
Since joining Bonfiglioli in 2010, Andrea has led key initiatives in e-mobility, heavy duty, and
integrated solutions for industrial automation. As CTO since 2017, he has promoted a
transformation of the R&D model based on technology platforms and established a dedicated
research center for advanced power transmission solutions and Industrial IoT, including proprietary
sensor development, AI-based condition monitoring, and smart connected products.
Andrea plays a strategic role in the Group’s M&A processes, leading technical due diligence and
post-acquisition integration for multiple acquisitions. He also serves on the boards of research
organization such as BI-REX (Big Data Innovation and Research Excellence Center) and IRIS Lab,
contributing to national initiatives on advanced manufacturing, industrial digitalization, and
collaborative innovation.
