Sapienza Fast Charge is the Formula Student team of Sapienza University of Rome, one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Europe, internationally recognized for excellence in education and research. Founded in 2012, the team is composed of students from different academic backgrounds — including engineering, computer science and economics — who work together in an interdisciplinary environment to design, develop and build a competitive electric single-seater for international Formula Student competitions.
The team’s activities are strongly focused on the engineering development of a high-performance race car, covering mechanical and electrical design, aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics and autonomous driving systems development. In particular, the team works on computer vision, SLAM, control systems and software architectures for autonomous vehicles.
Embedded within Sapienza’s academic environment, the team represents a direct bridge between academia and the automotive industry, offering students a highly technological educational experience that enhances the practical application of academic knowledge to the development of advanced solutions in electric mobility, motorsport and autonomous vehicles.
