Unical Reparto Corse is the official racing team of the University of Calabria, a project founded in 2005 within the Department of Mechanical, Energy and Management Engineering. The team is composed of students from different disciplines — mechanical engineering, electronics, management engineering, computer science and communication — who work together to design, develop and build competition vehicles for Formula SAE.
Since its first prototypes, the team has continuously evolved, developing increasingly competitive models and progressively expanding its experience. Over the years, Unical Reparto Corse has successfully participated in national and international competitions, achieving prestigious results such as third place overall at Formula SAE Italy 2022, ranking first among all Italian universities.
One of the most significant milestones in the team’s history was the transition to electric mobility with Odysseia, the team’s first fully electric vehicle. This prototype debuted in the 2024 season, successfully passing all technical inspections at its very first official competition — a milestone achieved by only a few teams in their debut electric season.
The 2025 season represents not only a confirmation of the skills acquired, but also a push towards new ambitions: Aithon successfully completed the Autocross event for the first time in the team’s electric history.
Today, Unical Reparto Corse is a community of approximately 100 passionate students, guided by academic staff and internal technical experts, who with dedication and a strong collaborative spirit represent a centre of excellence in hands-on education and technological innovation at the University of Calabria.
