In a context of demographic decline and rapid changes in the world of work, it has become essential to rethink strategies for attracting and retaining talent. Millennials and Generation Z bring new priorities to the table, such as work-life balance and a stronger focus on sustainability. However, many highly educated young professionals continue to move abroad in search of better opportunities.
To address these challenges, it is crucial to promote STEM education and foster diversity, while implementing policies that make our country more competitive in retaining high-quality talent. At the same time, a major new technological trend is emerging: the adoption and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In both industrial and service sectors, innovations such as ERP systems (e.g., SAP), connectivity, and digitalization have already posed significant challenges—not only from a technological standpoint, but also in terms of effective deployment. Success in these areas depends heavily on training and, above all, on genuine and widespread engagement with change by the people involved.
The intersection between technological and sociological shifts raises important questions: how do they influence the career choices of Generation Z, and what impact do they have on recruitment strategies more broadly?
The introduction of AI presents an even more complex challenge, as it brings in an element of intelligence and creativity that demands a deep cultural and operational shift. Ensuring effective and sustainable implementation requires organizations to assess and adapt the skills and capabilities of individuals, and where necessary, introduce corrective or compensatory measures.
While the development of AI is accelerating at an unstoppable pace, an open question remains: are today’s technologies truly compatible with mission-critical applications?
