Since its origins dating back to 1175, the University has been a cornerstone of scientific, cultural, and social life. Despite the ups and downs caused by local political changes over the centuries, the University has gradually expanded to become a multidisciplinary, active, and dynamic institution.
With around 30,000 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, and more than 1,400 staff members including faculty, researchers, and technical-administrative personnel, Unimore ranks among the large-sized Italian universities.
It operates as a network across Modena and Reggio Emilia, and is composed of 13 Departments and 2 Faculties/Schools, with additional accredited campuses in Mantua and Carpi. The University also includes interdepartmental centers spread across the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where it carries out teaching, research, third mission activities, and related support and technology transfer services.
