Director of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering POLIMI
Sergio M. Savaresi has a BS degree in Electronics Engineering, a PhD in Automation Engineering (Politecnico di Milano, 1992 and 1997) and a BS degree in Mathematics (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, 2000). After his PhD he worked for the Milan office of McKinsey&Co. Since 2006 he has been Full Professor of Automation at the Politecnico di Milano, where he is Director of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering for the three-year period 2023-2025. He holds the courses "Automation and control in vehicles" and "Model Identification and Data Analysis." Sergio Savaresi founded the MOVE research group in 2001, focused on developing research activities in the area of control systems for vehicles. MOVE today is one of the world's leading research groups in the field of vehicle control systems.
It has authored more than 500 international scientific publications (including 5 books) and more than 50 patents. His research interests are mainly in vehicle and mobility control systems. Over the past five years, he has coordinated more than 150 applied research and development projects in collaboration with leading companies in the vehicle industry. He is co-founder of ten "innovative startup" companies. He is Team Principal of the PoliMOVE team. PoliMOVE is the winning team of the "Autonomous Challenges" at CES Las Vegas (7/1/2022 and 7/1/2023) and Texas Motor Speedway (11/11/2022), as well as the world speed record holder for a fully autonomous vehicle (Cape Canaveral, FL, 4/27/2022)
ROUND TABLE - Design & Heritage
