The University of Pavia offers two innovative Master’s courses, in ‘Car Test Driving and Simulation for Vehicle Dynamics Development’ and in ‘Race Engineering’, aimed at engineers with a passion for the automotive world.
The courses stand out in the academic panorama for the in-depth study of theoretical topics, the use of driving simulators, operational activities on the track as well as the international environment and the presence of corporate partners such as: ASC, GuidaSicura Quattroruote, VI-Grade, CSI, Danisi Engineering, Hexagon/MSC Software, Skydrive, Megaride, Avehil, Accademia ED, Regolo, Tatuus, Autotecnica Motori, Prema, Trident, J.A.S. Motorsport, Harp, ADM, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Michigan Scientific and Oreste Berta.
The Master’s course in ‘Car Test Driving and Simulation for Vehicle Dynamics Development’ aims to train highly qualified professional test drivers with a solid background in vehicle dynamics design and capable of operating in all phases of vehicle set-up and development, from dynamic simulation (using CAE and driving simulators) to prototype testing through to pre-series vehicle production. Total Vehicle Testing and Development, which includes 11 days of track testing activities, is one of the fundamental and exclusive teaching modules of this master’s course.

The Master’s programme in ‘Race Engineering’ is the only university course to offer engineers targeted training in the on-track handling of racing cars. Particular expertise is acquired in vehicle tuning techniques, both in virtual mode (using CAE and a special simulator for the joint training of the driver and his car engineer) and in experimental mode (on the track with a Formula single-seater car, driven by professional drivers) for the duration of the course. The training, conducted under the guidance of professional experts and track engineers, is aimed at training engineers in the roles of data/performance and race engineers, ready to enter the world of motorsport.
