HIGH SPEED – SPEED AND FASHION IN RACING

HIGH SPEED – SPEED AND FASHION IN RACING

From 2 to 19 May, within the context of the Motor Valley Fest, Modenamoremio will be organising the exhibition “High Speed – speed and fashion in racing”, organised by Maria Carafoli, under the artistic direction of Modateca Deanna and with the collaboration for the fittings of Studio Paolo Bazzani, Art Director of the famous fashion designer Antonio Marras.

For the occasion, Modenamoremio has the honour of being the first to use the interior spaces of Palazzo Solmi, a prestigious building in the historic centre of Modena that has been closed to the public for years due to major renovation work, which is still in progress.
The exhibition takes inspiration from the world of racing and Formula 1 to tell a compelling picture of society and the era through photos and fashion, with a particular focus on the 1980s and 1990s.

The era examined features some of the most famous Formula 1 drivers, internationally recognised for their victories, participations and awards in the most famous world championships, who became true style icons in and out of the paddock.

The exhibition will also deal with the most glamorous aspect of Formula 1, i.e. the parties and social life of drivers and celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s who frequented Monte Carlo and many other racing capitals during these years. With a special selection of looks from the Modateca Deanna Archives, fashion will be the star of the exhibition, with a focus on the glam trends of the period and an in-depth look at the trends inspired by the world of motor racing.

The Modenese artist and sculptor Alessandro Rasponi will create a series of works exclusively for the exhibition dedicated to the racing driver Ayrton Senna, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his death. Also on display will be a series of objects in memory of Senna, who most of all represented a true racing icon, witnessed by the uninterrupted affection of his fans.

The exhibition route will be reminiscent of the Formula 1 circuit, through the use of a specially constructed track that will guide the visitor through each environment.

The spectator will also enjoy an emotional and visual tale created by Studio Paolo Bazzani, a story-telling, entrusted to projections created exclusively for the exhibition. A valuable guide to the exhibition with references to iconic moments of the era.
