The Guardia di Finanza is present at Motor Valley Fest 2024, scheduled to take place in Modena May 2-5, with a vintage car, made available by the Corps' Historical Museum, and a 100 percent electric car, thus linking its motoring past with the future of sustainable mobility.
Specifically on display are:
- an Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2.0 (vintage car), which, in the mid-1970s, were purchased to replace Alfa Romeo Giulia cars as "pursuit cars" in light of their absolute top performance (at the time it was advertised as the fastest sedan in the world). From 1979 the second series (so-called square headlights) version 2.0 was adopted, which, predominantly in "ministerial blue" color, was equipped with two rotating flashing beacons and was used in the various service sectors of the Corps as a means of combating smuggling, for surveillance at monopolies, transporting authorities and, in "standard" colors, for complex investigation activities in the field of tax fraud and drug trafficking. Many examples ended their operational life in the Corps as training cars as part of courses for "operational car conductor."
-
a PEUGEOT E-208 (100% electric passenger car), which testifies to the Corps' effort to modernize and upgrade, in green mode, its service vehicles, demonstrating the Guardia di Finanza's special sensitivity to environmental issues. The model has been in service since 2021 and is intended for the country's major urban centers. The Peugeot e-208 has an electric powertrain that provides 136 hp. The same is powered by a 50 kWh battery that ensures a range (stated by the manufacturer) of up to 340 km. The car integrates its modern and functional design with the typical equipment of a livery car engaged in territorial control such as, for example, 2 long gun holders, the desk top with light read night map, no. 2 led flashlights, the slot to accommodate the tablet device to allow, along with radio equipment, constant communication with the provincial operations room. The Peugeot e-208s are intended for use in the performance of all services of representation of the institution or of an operational nature, to be carried out primarily in the historical centers and/or significant tourist influx of the major metropolitan cities.
The exhibition is organized by the Emilia Romagna Regional Command of the Guardia di Finanza in collaboration with the Corps Historical Museum.
