Exhibition set up in the Giulio Cesare Courtyard from 12 to 14 May.
This exhibition wants to make known the path beyond Formula 1, demonstrating of the ingenuity, innovative capacity and passion of Engineer Mauro Forghieri.
A lesser known but equally exciting story that involved him in the the last 35 years of his life and which kept him active until his last day.
Under his technical direction, Ferrari won a total of 54 rainbow Grand Prix, 4 World Drivers’ Titles and 7 World Constructors’ Titles in Formula 1.
In the Sport Prototypes category, the 6 world marque titles won and the unforgettable parade finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours should be remembered.
With his experience at Ferrari over in 1987, Forghieri accepted the challenge from Lee Iacocca, at that time CEO of Chrysler and architect of the acquisition of Lamborghini Automobili, to found Lamborghini Engineering. Under his technical direction an innovative 3500 c.c. 12-cylinder Formula 1 engine and a 6-speed transverse gearbox was designed and developed in less than two years.
In 1993 McLaren set up a laboratory car equipped with the 12-cylinder Lamborghini, for driver Ayrton Senna. Track tests were extremely positive and the program was planned for the following year.
In 1991, thanks to funding from businessman Fernando Gonzales Luna, a new F1 car was designed under Forghieri’s direction and raced in the 1991 World Championship with the Modena Team.
At the end of ’91 Forghieri left Lamborghini Engineering to move to the technical direction of Bugatti.
On January 1, 1995, Mauro Forghieri, Franco Antoniazzi and Sergio Lugli founded Oral Engineering in Baggiovara, Modena, which over the years has grown to become a technical partner of the world’s leading manufacturers in the Automotive sector.
Under its technical direction and in collaboration with BMW, the 10-cylinder F1 engine used by Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher in the 2000 World Championship, the prototype of the G.P.800 c.c. motorcycle, 2- and 4-cylinder diesel engines for the military and civilian sectors, and many other projects that enthusiasts will be able to discover at the exhibition organized at the Military Academy – Ducal Palace May 12-14.
Among the many projects that can be viewed, the new 2WD-4WD military and civil electric vehicle built by Oral in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and supervised by Ing.Forghieri and a Bugatti EB 110 Super Sport will also be presented.
The Engineer’s activity in Oral continued until the weeks before his passing.
The exhibition will also feature some works by Alessandro Rasponi created for this occasion.
