The Motor Valley Fest, the Emilia-Romagna Motor Festival, returns to Modena for its sixth edition from May 2nd to May 5th, 2024.

Over 70,000 people are expected to attend over the four days, attracted by a rich schedule of events including over 20 in-depth discussions on industry trends, 12 talent talks aimed at young talents, and dozens of unique car and motorcycle models on display.

Among the many exhibitions, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the McLaren Senna and three models of the Ducati 916 Senna, commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the great Ayrton Senna’s passing.

Additionally, there will be special openings of the Motor Valley museums, historic car parades, courses to become test drivers, film premieres, tributes to engineer Forghieri, and tastings of local products. Not to be missed is the great celebration for enthusiasts, such as those at the regional race tracks, where international motorsport events will take place alongside the festival.

“The Motor Valley is now an international brand that identifies Emilia-Romagna around the world,” said Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region. “History, passion, myth, but also a look to the future, research, and new technologies. The sixth edition of the Motor Valley Fest consolidates a fundamental event for motor enthusiasts and for this region.”

The Motor Valley Fest will kick off, as tradition dictates, with the opening conference at the Teatro Pavarotti in Modena on May 2nd at 9:00 am. Topics such as the new scenarios in the automotive sector, the challenges of sustainable mobility, and talent retention will be addressed. Speakers include Stefano Domenicali, Andreas Cornet, Michele Bertoncello, Christian Richter, Giovanna Vitelli, Andrea Casaluci, and Johannes-Joerg Rueger, who will deliver speeches on high-performance and luxury markets, sustainability, and artificial intelligence in the mobility sector.

At the end of the conference, there will be the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Courtyard of Honor of the Military Academy of Modena at 1:00 pm. Conferences and roundtable discussions will continue in the following days, with B2B talks in partnership with leading companies in the sector.

But the journey into the excellence of the Motor Valley will also continue on television, with the exclusive programming in May of “VELOCE. The legend of the Motor Valley,” a docu-series produced by Rice Media and directed by Paolo Civati, six episodes that narrate the myths of the Emilia-Romagna Motor Valley entering the most prestigious super sports homes in the world.

Round tables, speeches, and public discussions between experts and representatives of the automotive sector are at the heart of the Motor Valley Fest. Representatives of the major international two- and four-wheeled automotive brands and of the most important industries in the supply chain; representatives of institutions; experts; and riders will discuss the prospects and future challenges of a sector in great turmoil. The inaugural conference will take place on Thursday,  May 11, at 9:00 am at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti – Freni in Modena.

After the institutional greetings from Paolo Calvano, Councilor for Budget, Personnel, Assets, Institutional Reorganization, EU Relations of the Emilia-Romagna Region; the Mayor of Modena Gian Carlo Muzzarelli; the president of Unioncamere Andrea Prete; and Remo Taricani, Unicredit Deputy Head Italy, the director of QuattroRuote Magazine Gian Luca Pellegrini will introduce the speech of the partners of McKinsey & Company, with Andreas Cornet, Senior Partner and Michele Bertoncello, Partner.

This will be followed by the Motor Valley Top Table, a talk on highly topical issues, starting from the perspectives of the electric revolution in the world of motors. The panel features representatives of the historic brands of the Motor Valley including Andrea Pontremoli, CEO Dallara Automobili; Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding Spa; Andrea Antichi, Chief Manufacturing Officer Ferrari Spa; Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO Automobili Lamborghini; Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO; Hannes Zanon, Commercial Director Pagani Automobili and Livia Cevolini, CEO Energica Motor Company Spa.

The morning will be closed by keynote speeches by Cristina Bombassei, Director and Chief CSR Officer of the Brembo Group; Edoardo Merli, ADG Power Transistor Sub-Group VP STMicroelectronics, Johannes – Joerg Rueger, president Bosch Engineering GmbH; and Christian Richter, Google Director Global Automotive.

At the end of the conference, the traditional ribbon cutting will be held at 1:00 pm in the honor courtyard of the Military Academy of Modena for the official start of the four-day fest.

The Motor Valley Fest conferences will continue in two dedicated locations, the Motor Valley Accelerator and the Sala Calandra Unicredit in Via Francesco Selmi 19.

B2B talks dedicated to the theme of “Evolution: the automotive sector and resources,” between ecological transition and digital innovation, will be held on Thursday afternoon, starting at 2.30 pm in the Motor Valley Accelerator area.

The first part of the conference, moderated by Gian Luca Pellegrini, will focus on the “Car and mobility supply chain” and will have informal interviews with Paolo Scudieri, President of ANFIA; Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of ACI; and Giuseppe Molinari, President of the Study Center of the Chambers of Commerce, Guglielmo Tagliacarne.

The following discussion will feature Marco Bevilacqua, co-founder and CEO of Reefilla; Antonio Falchetti, Executive Director MTA; Alessandro Magnoni, Director of Institutional Relations Marelli EMEA; Giorgio Marsiaj, founder, president and CEO Sabelt & UI Turin; Marco Stella , Chairman of the ANFIA Components Group; Paolo Streparava, CEO of Streparava Holding Spa; Andrea Constantini, Head of Assembly and finishing Automobili Lamborghini; and Massimiliano Mastalia, Head of Wealth & Large Corporates UniCredit.

The automotive sector’s current phase of transformation is at the center of the discussion, focusing on imminent deadlines for the abandonment of traditional engines; increasingly oriented towards the ESG transition; smart mobility; the semiconductor crisis; and the repercussions of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

The second part of the conference, moderated by Pierluigi Bonora of Il Giornale and Simona Dell’Utri, CEO & Founder Bevalory, will be dedicated to “ESG and talents,” with interviews with Enrico Loccioni, founder Loccioni, and Andrea Pontremoli, CEO Dallara Automobili, and a round table discussion with Michele Antoniazzi, Chief Human Resources Officer Ferrari; Andrea Bozzoli, CEO HPE Coxa; Ampelio Corrado Venturi, Sicily Human Resources Director STMicroelectronics; Francesco Leali, Full Professor of Engineering UNIMORE/MUNER; and Alberto Ferrarotto, Head of Learning, Development & Talent Acquisition Automobili Lamborghini. Also on Thursday, May 11, starting at 2:30 pm, the conferences on “Innovation and finance: digitization, metaverse, and artificial intelligence” are on the agenda in the Sala Calandra Unicredit. “Digitization, connectivity, and data management,” a talk on how cybersecurity, data fog, data ownership, privacy, and AI are revolutionizing products and technologies and developing new behaviors in consumers will be moderated by Fabio de Rossi, deputy director of Motor1.com. The panelists are Juergen Reers, Senior Managing Director Accenture, Global Mobility X Lead; Stefano Marzani, Worldwide Tech Leader, Software-Defined Vehicles AWS; and Giuseppe Rosso, Vice President Qualcomm.

This will be followed by the round table attended by Rolando D’Arco, CEO Leasys; Claudio Arlandini, Project Manager HPC for industry Cineca; Giuseppe Faranda Cordella, CEO Drivesec; Teodoro Lio, Senior Managing Director Accenture, Consumer & Manufacturing Industries Lead Italia, Central Europe and Greece; Pier Paolo Tamma, Chief Digital Officer Pirelli; and Francesco Toso, CEO NEWTWEN.

At 4:00 pm, the second session, “Finance and open innovation” moderated by Dario Donato, journalist of Mediaset Tgcom 24, will address the issue of financing in the context of digitization. The so-called “transition 4.0” consists of an incentive plan implemented through tax credits to cover research and development activities, but also in innovative technologies and digital skills in the private sector. Stefano Molino, Senior Partner CDP Venture Capital; and Regina Savage, Managing Director Morgan Stanley, Investment Banking Division will talk about the role of open innovation and how it can be interpreted by large companies. 

This will be followed by a round table with Enrico Chiapparoli, CEO Barclays Italy, Head of Banking Italy and Central Eastern Europe Former Head of Automotive EMEA; Enrico Dente, MVA Director; Lorenzo Maternini, Co-Founder and VP Talent Garden; Giusy Stanziola, Start Lab & Development Programs UniCredit; Giovanni Revoltella, CEO Dbag Italia; Davide Turco, Co-founder and CEO Indaco Venture Partners SGR; and Paolo Boni, CFO and Managing Director Automobili Lamborghini.

The green transition will be the focus of “The future, sustainability, and the electric,” scheduled for Friday, May 12 at the Motor Valley Accelerator starting at 9:30 am.

The first part will focus in particular on “ESG: synthetics and hydrogen” to take stock of alternative fuels and global strategic objectives, with particular reference to the logistics and transport sector. Alessandro Viviani, Forum Ambrosetti; Pierpaolo Antonioli, CTO PUNCH; Dino Brancale, AVL CEO; Valeria Loreti, Motorsport Delivery Manager Shell; Vittorio Dini, Ferrari Power Train Director; and Cristiano Musi, CEO LANDI RENZO will take part in the round table moderated by Barbara Gasperini; Pierre-Olivier Calendini, Director of Aramco’s Paris fuel research center; and Alessandro Bartelloni, FuelsEurope Director.

The second part of the morning, dedicated to “Sustainability, ESG and electrification,” will have Cecile Pera, Founder and Director of Orovelc, and Federico Vitali, Cavaliere del Lavoro, founder of the FAAM brand and vice president of FIB Spa, at the fireplace talks. Also on Friday, at 9:30 am, the “Motor Valley DNA” conference will be held in Sala Calandra Unicredit. Two round tables will be dedicated to design and racing cars to discover the new trends in aerodynamics, style, and comfort with representatives of the Motor Valley brands, enthusiasts, and drivers.

Automotive enthusiasts from around the world will be delighted by the rich weekend program in Modena, a UNESCO World Heritage city and host of the Motor Valley Fest, the great festival celebrating Italy’s Land of Motors in the Emilia-Romagna region.

BEST OF MOTOR VALLEY

The Cortile d’Onore of Palazzo Ducale, seat of the Military Academy of Modena, will host the Best of Motor Valley  (May 12-14, 2023) with a public display of the most iconic cars and motorcycles of Emilia-Romagna’s Motor Valley. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the Ferrari Roma Spider (at its first public appearance); the Ducati Streetfighter V4; Lamborghini the Revuelto by Lamborghini; the Pagani Utopia; the Maserati MC20 Cielo and the Dallara EXP IR8 Tribute version.

Also on display is the F1 Scuderia Toro Rosso 2014 (Imola racetrack); Bautista’s Ducati Superbike show bike no. 1 and RES-TECH car simulator (Misano World Circuit); historical motorcycle BD Praga 500cc ASI MOTOSHOW and prototype car Formula SAE (Autodromo Varano de’ Melegari); Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (Scuderia de Adamich), Maserati 250F 1957 (Modena racetrack), Ferrari 308 GTB “Gr4” Michelotto from 1979 (Scuderia Tricolore), and Lamborghini Islero Rossa (Museo Ferruccio Lamborghini).

INNOVATION & TALENTS

Innovation & Talents, the networking area dedicated to talents, start-ups and the university world, will come to life on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12, at the San Carlo Foundation, in Piazza Grande and at the Military Academy. 

Twelve universities will exhibit their SAE Formulas in Piazza Grande; on the ‘track’ the MUNER Motorvehicle University of Emilia-Romagna and the Italian Racing Teams/Squads will exhibit, while in the Military Academy there will be over 40 national and international startups and a Hungarian delegation. The San Carlo Foundation will be the stage for the twelve “Talent Talks” aimed at students, where the top brands of the Motor Valley, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Dallara, and Ducati will tell future professionals about the skills required to work in the automotive sector.

THE EXHIBITIONS

The exhibition entitled “L’altra storia dell’Ing. Mauro Forghieri” is set up by Vision Up in the Cortile Giulio Cesare of the Military Academy of Palazzo Ducale in Modena. Among others, the prototype of the G.P.800 cc motorcycle, 2 and 4 cylinder diesel engines for the military and civil sector will be exhibited, and the new military and civil 2WD-4WD electric vehicle will also be presented, created by Oral Engineering in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and followed by Eng. Forghieri.

In the Torretta area of the former Aerautodromo di Modena, inside the Enzo Ferrari Park in Viale Autodromo 29, visitors will find the exhibition “The great Modenese motorcyclists” (opening May 11, at 6.30 pm) created in collaboration with Moto Club Modena, with motorcycles and road tests of Kawasaki motorcycles. Photographs and films on display tell the story and adventures of important Modenese centaurs: Francesco Villa, Walter Villa, Claudio Lusuardi, Gianfranco Bursi, Franco Cottafavi, Gabriele Debbia and Luca Cadalora. There will also be a special tribute to two great motorcyclists of the past: Jarno Saarinen and Renzo Pasolini.

During the weekend of the Motor Valley Fest guests will be able to visit the Motor Valley Auction House of Giusti and Battaglia and the private collection of the Giusti family. For the occasion, an exhibition of pedal cars, helmets of famous pilots and watches of great value will be set up. In absolute preview it will be possible to see some of the relics and objects that belonged to Mauro Forghieri.

From May 11-June 25, in the San Carlo Church in Modena, visitors can see the exhibition “Manamente: pieces of unique pieces”, promoted by Modenamoremio with the artistic direction of Modateca Deanna and installations by Studio Paolo Bazzani and Iris Ceramica Group. Unique pieces from the world of ceramics, fashion and motors will be on display. The artists involved are Andrea Anastasio, Marco Ceroni and Andrea Salvatori, Alessandro Rasponi, and Antonio Marras, with their own unique ceramic pieces.

MOTOR VALLEY VILLAGE

In Piazza Grande, the passion for engines ignites the Motor Valley Village with the participation of professional pilots from the Portamiinpista school, affiliated with ASI and the Motor Valley.

On Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14, UniCredit, the main sponsor of the Motor Valley Fest, will also be present with a gazebo dedicated to the Metaverse where the public will be able to enjoy a unique and immersive experience through a journey into virtual reality. By wearing special visors, visitors will be able to explore the digital environments created especially for the Fest with their own avatar to enjoy an enthralling journey into the world of cars. The fun driving simulator from the Gran Turismo 7 video game is dedicated to children.

For the first time the Municipality of Lugo (in the province of Ravenna) will also participate in the Fest with its Francesco Baracca Museum (the house museum dedicated to the Italian aviation ace of the First World War, an illustrious citizen of Lugo) together with the Enzo International Autodrome and Dino Ferrari of Imola (which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary), with drawing workshops for children dedicated to the figure of Baracca and the emblem that appeared on his plane, that of the Prancing Horse, which later became the symbol of Ferrari. Activities connected to the centenary of the first edition of the Circuito del Savio, the event that unleashed the passion for car and motorcycle racing throughout Romagna, will be celebrated in Ravenna on June 10, 2023.

In Piazza Roma throughout the weekend, the space will be dedicated to “Romagna Motorcycle”, the Visit Romagna project (in partnership with Ducati, Motor Valley, Misano World Circuit, Riders’ Land) for the promotion of motorbike tourism to discover the beauties and charm of Emilia-Romagna. The journey through the Land of Champions is just one of the ten itineraries that can be found and followed on the pages of www.visitromagna.it/motorcycle. The anticipated new itinerary, Romagna Electric Motorcycle, will be completely dedicated to eco-sustainable mobility on the saddle of an electric motorbike.

In Piazza Grande, Saudi Aramco will host an interactive and immersive exhibition on synthetic fuels, while younger visitors can enjoy the Supercar Tire Challenge.

MUSEUMS

On Friday, May 12, Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena (MEF) will be open from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm and the admission ticket will include a small gift linked to the “Game Changer” exhibition . During the three days it will also be possible to take advantage of the free guided tours subject to availability at the following times: 10:00 am and 3:00 pm in Italian and 11:00 am and 4:00 pm in English.

The “Inclusivity Project” will also be launched at the Motor Valley Fest which provides a series of services aimed at people with disabilities: remote virtual visits to allow people with motor disabilities to visit the museum directly from home by autonomously driving a robotic device equipped with an audio-video system (subject to availability) and free guided tours organized in sign language – LIS (subject to availability), at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Some of the Ferraris in the range will be on display in the square in front of the entrance to the MEF; among which the cars presented in 2022 stand out, namely the Ferrari Purosangue and the 296 GTS. Inside the museum, for the entire duration of the Fest, there will be an exhibition dedicated to the memory of Mauro Forghieri, one of the most significant characters in the history of Ferrari.

Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace will also be the location for an engaging journey that tells the story of what Ferrari has always considered the most important part of each of its cars: the engine. An exhibition space that traces a selection of the most significant engines, with three main areas dedicated to these categories: that of classic 12-cylinder engines; that of V8s and, finally, that of Formula 1. In each of the three sectors, a Ferrari car will also be on display, exemplifying each type of engine.

Museum visitors can also take advantage of the free return shuttle to Maranello (subject to availability) to complete their visit to the Ferrari Museum. For families with children up to 12 years of age, a treasure hunt will be offered as a free activity on the theme of the exhibitions currently underway at the museum.

From May 13 to May 14 there will also be the possibility of taking guided tours by booking the Stanguellini brand museum (https://www.stanguellini.it/en/). At this museum dedicated to Modena’s most famous car constructors – the Stanguellini family – visitors will be able to learn about the history of a car manufacturer with a glorious past, the creator of models destined to remain in the imagination of motor enthusiasts for all time.

The Maserati showroom in Via Divisione Acqui 17 will be open and can be visited free of charge on May 11 from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, May 12 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and May 13 and 14 from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. The Ares Showroom (in Via Emilia at number 95) opens to the public from May 11-14. ARES designs and manufactures cars and motorcycles made to order and by hand, in one-of-a-kind or limited series. The work of ARES is therefore part of the historic tradition of Italian bodywork, which is projected into the present and future, through the use of the most advanced technologies and the best performing materials.

PARADES, FASHION SHOWS AND GATHERINGS

From Friday, May 12 – Sunday, May 14 the Cavallino Classic Modena returns; the third edition of the “Concorso d’Eleganza” with a parade of 25 excellent Ferraris. Casa Maria Luigia owner and Chef Massimo Bottura (with his wife Lara Gilmore) will be the guests of an enchanting journey between culinary tradition and research. Also this year the cars will participate in a wonderful parade along the center of Modena on the afternoon of Saturday May 13, from 4.30 to 6.30 pm.

Saturday May 13 is the day of Moto & Supercars Made in Motor Valley with a parade of cars between Romagna, the Riviera Romagnola, the Via Emilia, Bologna with arrival in Modena around 8.00 pm. Over 200 Ducati motorcycles and 100 Emilian supercars, including those by Ferrari and Lamborghini will parade. There will also be Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat powered by Ferrari, Stratos, De Tomaso. The cars will remain on display in Piazza Roma until late in the evening.

From Thursday, May 11 – Sunday, May 14 there will also be the “60th Lamborghini Anniversary & Supercars” event, a traveling gathering between Modena, Romagna – the Romagna Riviera, with around thirty cars, mostly Lamborghinis.

The 23rd Concours d’Elégance Salvarola Terme Trophy will take place on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14, created by the Terme della Salvarola in collaboration with the Ferrari Museums, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipalities of Modena, Sassuolo, Formigine, Fiorano Modenese and Maranello, Bper, Aci Modena and the Consortium for the Protection of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar.

On Saturday, May 13 the participating crews will parade through the streets of Modena to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, the Righini Collection in Castelfranco Emilia and the Reggia Ducale Estense in Sassuolo. On Sunday morning, May 14, all the cars in the race will be lined up on the “green carpet” of the Salvarola Terme park and will be admired at the Art Nouveau establishment of the Terme della Salvarola. On Sunday afternoon in Piazza Roma in Modena, the winners of the categories will be proclaimed and the Best of Show awarded, with the delivery of the Salvarola Terme Trophy created by the artist Alessandro Rasponi and the Targa Città di Modena.

The Special Guest of 2023 will be the Italian Alfa Romeo Register, which will bring a selection of the best Alfa Romeo cars, alongside classes open to prestigious cars of all brands. Starting from this edition, cars produced up to 1992 can be entered.

On Sunday, May 14, from 11.30 am to 2.30pm, there will also be a parade in the city center of the EsseEsse9, Experia, Ego, Eva Ribelle di Energica electric motorcycles with a stop in Piazza Roma, and arrival in Largo Sant’Agostino.

On Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14, Davide Cironi will be the organizer of the decennial Drive Experience -Track Day at the Modena Marzaglia racetrack, a classic track day in which it is possible to book sessions on the track with your car by registering on the website www.driveexperience.it.

Also on Saturday, May 13, there will be a parade organized by Piero Capello of the Sport Rally Team, with about thirty cars, mostly Ferraris, some Maseratis and Porsches, in the center of Modena, arriving in Piazza Sant ‘Agostino at 1:00 pm and exhibited until 7.00 pm.

EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS IN THE CITY

Piazza Grande will host the entire Folgore range of Maserati, brought together for the first time: the GranTurismo Folgore One Off Luce and Grecale Folgore, the first full-electric car and SUV in the history of the Trident, will be featured along with the futuristic Gen3 Maserati Tipo Folgore single-seater, debuting in the 2023 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Instead, it will be Piazza XX Settembre that will host the celebratory Zéda edition of the Maserati Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo range. The spacious SUV, the elegant sports car, and the refined sedan will catch the eye in a version that pays homage to the brand’s roots and is a prelude to the new electric era.  

In the Viale Ciro Menotti showroom will be the Maserati GranTurismo: two classic cars, along with a GranTurismo Zéda and the GranTurismo One Off Prisma, will welcome the public to the historic Trident headquarters.

For the second consecutive year, the historical and cultural association “Bugatti Automobili Campogalliano APS” will be presented. In Largo Porta Sant’Agostino, the association exhibits the very rare Bugatti Eb112, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The car, presented in 1993 at the Geneva Motor Show and of which there are only 3 specimens, was for the time a futuristic concept of a super sports sedan and has been defined as the “most beautiful sedan in the world”. The one on display is the original specimen of the presentation in Geneva, with carbon frame, 6-litre V12 engine (derived from the Eb110) and design by Giorgetto Giugiaro.

The car has not been exhibited in Modena and its surroundings since 1995 and comes from a private collection.

From May 11-14 in front of the Motor Valley Accelerator headquarters, in via Selmi, 15, Aptera Motors will be the protagonist with one of its vehicles on public display.

In Piazza Mazzini for the entire duration of the Motor Valley Fest in the Ex-Albergo Diurno area, do not miss a visit to the virtual Parmigiano Reggiano dairy. Unimore researchers, in collaboration with Piacere Modena, invite the public to discover the production process of Parmigiano Reggiano; the virtual tour was developed with the funding of the Modena Foundation, “FAR2019 for research”. Visitors are asked to interact with the cheesemaker – an avatar – and to perform actions in virtual mode which are useful for learning the complex production process of Parmigiano Reggiano in a simple way.

Also organized by Piacere Modena, in Piazza Mazzini, on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14, there will be guided tastings of DOP and IGP products from the province of Modena with the narration of the history and culture connected to them.

From May 11-14 there will also be the Campagna Amica Market in Piazza Matteotti.

During the Fest, all the police forces will exhibit their vehicles and service vehicles in various areas of the city: the Guardia di Finanza-Provincial Command of Modena and the Municipal Police in Largo Sant’Agostino, the Arma dei Carabinieri-Comando of Modena in Piazzale della Torre, the State Police in Piazzale degli Erri and in Piazza Matteotti there will be ADM Agenzia delle Dogane e Monopoli.

For the State Police it is an opportunity to present to the public the prevention campaigns in place, from gender-based violence to bullying; there will also be a 100% electric vehicle of the Guardia di Finanza, while ADM will be available to visitors with a mobile structure from the Bologna chemical laboratory, set up with scientific instruments specially designed to perform fuel analyzes on site.

On Thursday, May 11 from 2.30 pm, the AGO Modena Cultural factories will host an event with CNA Emilia-Romagna, CNA Modena & Global Marketing Architecture entitled “Motorsport Club Revving up the Italy-UK speech and business meeting between Italian and British companies ”. The two most important European motorsport districts will meet to discuss important themes and trends for the automotive sporting sector.

On Friday May 12, from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, the Città dei Ragazzi, will host a discussion with some companies in the car repair sector (in particular those of vintage restoration), to think about the future of a niche sector recognized and appreciated all over the world by connoisseurs and collectors. The participation of the regional councilor for economic development, training, work and green economy, Vincenzo Colla, is awaited. The initiative aims to be open not only to companies, but also to students of the Vocational Training Center and to all interested parties.

On Friday May 12, at 2:30 pm, the SPAZIOF Palazzo Montecuccoli will host the conference “The professions: experiences and innovation. The history and culture of motoring, told by the professional orders and colleges of the province of Modena”, organized by the Commission for equal opportunities of the Committee of the professional orders and colleges of the Province of Modena – CUP – and only Emilia-Romagna and Unimore in collaboration with the Smart city sector, demographic services and participation of the Municipality of Modena and the Modena Foundation. Also on Friday, May 12 from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm, the free and open conference entitled “Stories of Taste and Engines” is scheduled, organized by Piacere Modena at the Modena Chamber of Commerce, with speeches from great Modenese personalities (Pagani, Panini, Righini) linked to the world of food and engines, and moderation by the journalist and commentator for Sky, Leo Turrini. The conference is free and open to all, followed by a tasting of the PDO and PGI products of Modena.

On Saturday May 13, on the catwalk in Piazza Roma, there will be the presentation of the volume “Motor Valley-Viaggio nella terra dei motori’ published by Minerva, the story of the making off of the first official docufilm of the Emilia-Romagna Motor Valley, by the director and journalist Stefano Ferrari and screenwriter Miria Burani.

The book contains 50 historical black and white photographs by Walter Breveglieri and 50 more contemporary images by Massimiliano Donati as well as the testimonies of thirty-six protagonists of the Emilia-Romagna motor world: Piero, the son of the ‘Drake’ Enzo Ferrari, Tonino Lamborghini (son of the founder of the brand), the former Formula 1 driver Jody Scheckter, the former Team Principal and CEO of Ferrari Stefano Domenicali,  Horacio Pagani and Gianpaolo Dallara (of the eponymous automotive companies), as well as the contributions of managers of local motorsport companies.

On Saturday, May 13 at 3.00 pm at the Teatro Storchi, TEDxModena returns with the interventions of thirteen speakers with their own talks focused on the theme “SUSTAIN-ABILITY”, in partnership with Unimore and MUNER. The event is promoted by Unimore, Muner and Motor Valley Fest, with the support of the Collegio San Carlo Foundation and the patronage of the Municipality of Modena, the Emilia-Romagna Region and Confindustria Emilia Area Centro.

At 5.00 pm at the San Carlo Foundation in Modena, the presentation of the book “Altra terra dei motori” by Alessandro Socini is scheduled.

The European Night of Museums returns on May 13, the great festival of museums and places of culture in the city, with dance performances, meetings, guided tours, installations and workshops for a special evening that crosses the historic center from the Palazzo dei Musei at Palazzo Santa Margherita. Once again the leitmotif of the events will be dance with the involvement of Modena dance associations, professional companies and individual professionals of national and international caliber. During the evening, the extraordinary openings of the Ghirlandina, the historic rooms of the town hall and the municipal vinegar cellar, are also planned.

OUT OF TOWN EVENTS

On Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14, the Pagani Roadster BC will also be exhibited in Formigine, in Piazza Calcagnini; even the Scuderia Belle Epoque, a real local excellence in terms of engines, will exhibit its own car at the Castle.

In Piazza Italia for the little ones there will be a large carpet depicting vertical and horizontal signs to learn the basics of driving, created with the collaboration of local police officers and volunteers from the Family and Road Victims Association. The exhibition “Paolino and his friends. The Formiginesi della Formula 1”, includes video-interviews and installations on the mechanics of the legend. 

In Sala Loggia, on the other hand, there will be the exhibition “Don Sergio Mantovani, one of us” which will highlight the figure of the Formiginese parish priest passionate about engines and a friend of many Formula 1 drivers, who died in 2018.

On the same weekend in the center of Formigine there will be the second edition of Eutierra Green Fest which will offer stands of horticulture, gardening, agriculture, equipment and products for lovers of vegetable gardens, gardens and the countryside, companies that deal with eco-homes, green building , ecological cars, electric bikes and bio-pools. The food area will be dedicated to farms that will sell the organizers’ products. 

The official opening of the fifth edition of the Motor Valley Fest, Emilia Romagna’s great open-air festival celebrating the Land of Motors, is one month away. From May 11 to 14, 2023 the festival will take place in the capital of the most famous Motor Valley in the world, the city of Modena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“The Motor Valley Fest is an event that turns the spotlight on an area rich in motoring excellence known all over the world,” said the president of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini. “It has become an international point of reference for the motor world, thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency’s Made in Italy initiative and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.” 

“This year, there are also three important anniversaries: the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini, a car manufacturer that needs no introduction; the 70th anniversary of the birth of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari of Imola, which a permanent host of Formula 1 racing; and the 100th anniversary of the Circuito del Savio, the great historic event known for igniting automotive passions throughout Romagna and site of the first race won by Enzo Ferrari,” Bonaccini continued. “These anniversaries remind us of the link between the world of motor vehicles and this land.”

Technological change; updates on electrification; high-impact hybrid solutions; full electric; and the development of the highly interesting world of synthetic fuels, both in the road products market and in the world of sport, are just some of the topics that will be addressed during the event.

The Motor Valley Fest will open on Thursday May 11, at 9:00am with the now customary inaugural conference at the Pavarotti Theater in Modena. After the institutional greetings of the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini, the Mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli, and the president of Unioncamere Andrea Prete, representatives of the Italian and international automotive elite will discuss issues in the world of engines. Following the conference, a ribbon cutting will be held in the courtyard of the Military Academy of Modena to officially start the festival.

Other happenings throughout the festival include conferences and roundtable discussions with representatives of the Motor Valley’s top brands, as well as cultural and food and wine events.

Some highlights of the Motor Valley Fest schedule will include:

• Innovation and Talents: A networking area dedicated to talents, start-ups, and universities will host events the first two days of the festival, on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12, at the San Carlo Foundation.

• • Twelve universities will exhibit their SAE Formulas in the Piazza Grande;
  • Over 40 national and international startups, including a delegation from Hungary, will be on the ‘track’ of the MUNER Motor Vehicle University of Emilia-Romagna and the Italian Racing Teams at the Military Academy;
  • The San Carlo Foundation will host the twelve Talent Talks where representatives from the top Motor Valley brands, including Lamborghini, Maserati, Dallara, Ducati, and others, will share their insights into the necessary skills future professionals will need to succeed in the automotive sector.

• Exhibitions: Prototypes, memorabilia, artwork, photographs, and films are among the exhibits presented throughout the event.

• • In the Cortile Giulio Cesare of the Military Academy of Palazzo Ducale in Modena, the exhibition entitled “L’altra storia dell’Ing. Mauro Forghieri,” set up by Vision Up, will be on display. The exhibition will display prototypes of the G.P.800 cc motorcycle, 2- and 4- cylinder diesel engines for the military and civil sector along with the new military and civil 2WD-4WD electric vehicles, created by Oral Engineering in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and followed by Ing. Forghieri;
  • In the Torretta area of the former Aerautodromo di Modena, “The great Modenese motorcyclists” exhibition, created in collaboration with Moto Club Modena, will feature static motorcycles and rallies. Photographs and films will tell the story and the adventures of important Modenese figures: Francesco Villa, Walter Villa, Claudio Lusuardi, Gianfranco Bursi, Franco Cottafavi, Gabriele Debbia, Luca Cadalora. There will also be a special tribute to two great motorcyclists who tragically died: Jarno Saarinen and Renzo Pasolini;
  • During the weekend of the festival, the Motor Valley Auction House of Giusti and Battaglia will be open to the public, along with the private car collection of the Giusti family. For the occasion, a special  exhibition of pedal cars, helmets of famous pilots and watches of great value will be set up, along with the memorabilia and objects that belonged to Forghieri;
  • From Thursday, May 11 to Sunday, June 25, the exhibition “Manualmente” will be held in the San Carlo Church in Modena showcasing pieces from the world of ceramics, fashion, and motor vehicles.

• The Expo in the City: A series of expositions will be on display for the public and festival attendees throughout Modena.

• The Best of the Motor Valley, a public display of cars and motorcycles from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati, and more, will be hosted by the Cortile d’Onore of Palazzo Ducale, the seat of the Military Academy of Modena;

• • The Motor Valley Village, in Piazza Grande, will ignite visitors’ passion for engines with the help of professional pilots from the Portamiinpista School, affiliated with ASI and the Motor Valley;
  • Making their Motor Valley Fest debut, the Municipality of Lugo (in the province of Ravenna), in collaboration with the Francesco Baracca Museum dedicated to the World War I-era Italian aviation ace and illustrious citizen of Lugo, together with the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack of Imola, will host drawing workshops for children dedicated to the figure of Baracca and the coat of arms that appeared on his plane, that of the prancing horse. This activity will highlight the centenary of the first edition of the Circuito del Savio, the event that ultimately unleashed Romagna’s passion for car and motorcycle racing, which will be celebrated in Ravenna on June 10, 2023.

• Parades: Displays of supercars, motorcycles, and motorbikes will take place throughout the weekend from the participating Motor Valley brands.

• • • May 11-14: The “60th Lamborghini Anniversary & Supercars” event, a traveling gathering between Modena and the Romagna Riviera, with around thirty cars, mostly Lamborghinis. Davide Cironi, a new participant, will organize the decennial Drive Experience, Truck Day at the Modena Marzaglia Racetrack;
    • May 12: A discussion with car repair companies on the future of the restoration sector
    • May 12-14: The Cavallino Classic Modena returns, its third edition, with the parade of 25 excellent Ferraris. Chef Massimo Bottura and his wife Lara Gilmore will be the guests of honor at this year’s “Concorso d’Eleganza,” which will be held at their Casa Maria Luigia, and host an enchanting journey between culinary tradition and automotive research. This year, the cars will travel along a wonderful parade route through the center of Modena on the afternoon of Saturday, May 13.
    • May 13: This parade of about 30 Ferraris, Maseratis, and Porsches, organized by Piero Capello of the Sport Rally Team, will start at the center of Modena and end at Piazza Sant’Agostino where the vehicles will remain on display until 19:00;
    • May 13: The Made in Motor Valley Motorcycle and Supercars rallies will parade from the Riviera Romagnola along the Via Emilia and arrive in Modena around 20:00 with over 200 Ducati motorcycles and 100 Emilian supercars, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, and more;
    • May 13-14: The 23rd Concours d’Elégance Salvarola Terme Trophy, created by the Terme della Salvarola in collaboration with the Ferrari Museums, the Emilia Romagna Region, the Municipalities of Modean, Sassuolo, Formigine, Fiorano Modenese and Maranello, Bper,  Aci Modena and the Consortium for the Protection of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar. On Saturday, this parade will travel through the streets of Modena to discover the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, the Righini Collection in Castelfranco Emilia, and the Reggia Ducale Estense in Sassuolo. Then on Sunday morning, the participating vehicles will line up along the “green carpet” of the Salvarola Terme park to be admired by the public, followed by an awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon in PIazza Roma in Modena.  The Special Guest of 2023 will be the Italian Alfa Romeo Register, which will bring a selection of the best Alfa Romeo cars, alongside classes open to prestigious cars of all brands. Cars produced up to 1992 can be entered to participate;
    • May 13-14: In Piazza Mazzini, experience a virtual tour of a farm, in collaboration with Unimore, to discover a Parmigiano Reggiano dairy farm. Guided tastings of DOP and IGP products from the province of Modena while learning about the history, culture, and know-how that produced them;
    • May 14: Parade of Energica electric motorbikes through the city center, beginning at 11:00, stopping in Piazza Roma and ending in Piazza Sant’Agostino

The conference will be moderated by Sky journalist and commentator Leo Turrini, followed by a tasting of the PDO and PGI products from Modena;

The dates for the Fifth Edition of the Motor Valley Fest, the great open-air festival of the Land of Motors in Emilia Romagna, have been unveiled. A long weekend, from 11 to 14 May 2023, again in the capital of the world’s most famous Motor Valley, the city of Modena (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

For all motor enthusiasts, for insiders, for the national and international car community, the “Fest” formula, which includes an intense calendar of conventions and round tables, exhibitions of cars of Motor Valley brands, themed meetings, parades, dynamic appointments and tastings, will once again be the most eagerly awaited spring event. The Motor Valley is back in the spotlight with its unique mix of experiences and excellence aimed at celebrating the territory and its protagonists.

This 5th edition will be even more significant, as 2023 will mark important anniversaries for all lovers of the Land of Motors in Emilia-Romagna: the 125th anniversary of Enzo Ferrari’s birth, the 70th anniversary of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Autodrome in Imola, the 30th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s death, and the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini’s foundation. The 2021 edition of the Motor Valley Fest is pulling up to the starting line and participants are ready to restart their engines! The third edition of the festival celebrating Italy’s Motor Valley, in the Emilia Romagna city of Modena, will take center stage from Thursday July 1 to Sunday July 4, 2021.

The 2021 edition will bridge our current physical and digital worlds, with a plan of physical and digital activities dedicated to all fans of two and four wheels. Once again, the roar of engines, adrenaline, motorsport history, culture as well as food and wine excellence will be the key ingredients for this made-in-Italy event.

With passion at its core, the festival is an opportunity to showcase the world’s most beautiful supercars and motorcycles, unique jewels that symbolize Italian excellence around the world, from up close.

Some previews

For the first time, all the regional racetracks in Emilia Romagna are on board: the Riccardo Paletti in Varano, the Modena racetrack, the International Autodrome, Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola and, finally, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, which will become the adrenaline-pumping stage of a series of dynamic events dedicated to the Motor Valley’s car manufacturers.

As always, the city of Modena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the ideal setting of the Motor Valley Fest and it will host the works of art, the exhibitions, the pop-up events and themed meetings within its squares, palaces and museums for locals and visitors to enjoy. Situated on the Via Emilia, the city of Modena, with its own history and artistic excellence, will continue to host the Motor Valley Fest’s Expo.

The expo’s scientific-technology conferences and panels are already confirmed, such as the inaugural conference and the in-depth round tables, with the participation of global leaders from the automotive industry as well as the “Innovation & Talents” sessions featuring a select group of start-ups and Italian and international universities.

Among the news of the 2021 edition, there will be a program of dedicated sessions and activities focused on sustainability and the world of electric mobility, featuring renowned international automotive brands.

In response to the challenges that the coronavirus pandemic has wrought on in-person gatherings, the various brands of Italy’s most prestigious motor vehicles will turn to the Internet when they discuss the future of the automotive industry and the new trends that will characterize it. 

Motor Valley Fest 2020 will expand its reach and enter the homes of thousands of fans worldwide with this innovative, online edition, enhancing its digital dimension, while optimizing its international network, to become a platform for promoting the entire Emilia-Romagna region, and with it, Italy.

The program therefore will not just focus strictly on motor-vehicles but also emphasize the productive nature of Italy –highlighting its various industries, its prestigious universities and research institutes, its storied history and culture, and the skills and conviviality of its professionals.

International events leveraging scientific-technological know-how have been confirmed thanks to a media project dedicated to the new frontiers of the sector, including the potential of the electric sector and experiments in the field of assisted driving. Efforts are being made to optimize Motor Valley Fest 2020’s platforms with the channels and networks of these pop-up events.

Start-ups, universities and students, the protagonists of tomorrow, will meet virtually in the largest forum designed to date, to talk about work, professional prospects, educational paths and innovation.

The conference will begin virtually, on Thursday, May 14, and feature prestigious Italian and international speakers, with key notes on specific, in-depth themes being live-streamed for a global audience.

There will be an “Innovation & Talents” section, dedicated to talents, the university world and start-ups. Meetings between university students and companies will take place with a new interactive look, including a virtual networking area designed to showcase the professional opportunities in the Emilian Motor Valley.

Motor Valley Fest is organized by the Emilia Romagna Region and its Tourism Board, the Municipality of Modena, the Motor Valley Development Association, Meneghini & Associati, with the support of ENIT, ACI, the Modena Chamber of Commerce, the Modena Foundation, BolognaFiere, MotorSport Network, in partnership with UniCredit and financed under the European Funds 2014-2020 of the Emilia Romagna Region – Por Fesr.

The countdown to the second exciting edition of Motor Valley Fest has begun. The popular festival, which is open to the public, will take place in Modena from May 14-17, 2020. Over the course of four adrenaline-filled days, the festival will offer a vast program for Italian and international tourists, families, car-lovers, sports-lovers and fans of history, art, culture and good food. Emilia-Romagna’s “Motor Valley” will once again be under the international spotlight during this event, visited by over 2 million tourists, celebrating the automotive excellence of the region and storied history of its famous two and four-wheel motor brands. The city of Modena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will become the prestigious stage to showcase the region’s automotive, cultural and gastronomic history.

This year, the Italian Motorcycle Federation joins the “Motor Valley” and ACI Italia and Emilia Romagna Region Tourism Board/Apt Servizi agree to jointly promote Motor Valley in sports initiatives and in motor circuits, in addition to the promotion of the Motor Valley Development Association and its tourism-related activities. Last year’s inaugural event brought over 70,000 people to the city to attend over 200 Motor Valley Fest events, according to John Elkann, FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) president who inaugurated the event. Over 3,000 people have been working on the Innovation area and over 15,000 people visited the Autodromo of Modena.

This year’s fest begins on Thursday, May 14, 2020 with a ribbon-cutting event attended by international media from the US, Asia, Middle East, the UK, Russia Poland and Germany as well as local professionals. Massimo Bottura, the most awarded chef-owner of Osteria Francescana, Modena-native and founder of the non-profit organization Food for Soul, will be hosting the inaugural dinner.

A plethora of locations throughout the city will participate in Motor Valley Fest activities: Palazzo Ducale, Piazza Mazzini, Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Grande, Piazza Roma, Piazza XX Settembre, Largo S. Agostino, Largo S. Francesco, Church Madonna del Voto, Palazzo de ‘Musei, College San Carlo and AGO; and once again the Autodromo of Modena and the Novi Sad Park. This year’s rich program of initiatives focuses on three themes: “Innovation & Talents”, “Expo” and “Adrenalina”.
